Our Story

The Youth Deserve Campaign is individuals, parents, community leaders, school administrators, teachers, and national and state organizations standing up, fighting back, and advocating for safe, inclusive, and affirming school environments free from the interference of unscrupulous politicians and religious conservatives trying to insert their political worldview on our amazing kids.

Youth Deserve is an educational project designed to make it easier for concerned community members to stand up for and promote the right of young people to inclusive, honest education in public schools, especially related to:

  • accurate, inclusive and affirming sex education,

  • LGBTQIA+ inclusive programs,

  • honest US racial history,

  • transgender/nonbinary student bathroom & sports inclusion

  • uncensored curriculum and book access

  • classrooms free from religious ideology

It is critical that we break down the silos between these attacks and fight together as one!

The Youth Deserves Campaign believes that all young people deserve safe, affirming, and inclusive schools, libraries, and communities. Our young people deserve to learn the facts, not political lies. And we know that it doesn’t matter if our kids are straight or queer; cisgender, transgender, or nonbinary; white, Black, Asian, or mixed race; able-bodied or navigating the world with an intellectual, physical, or development disability - attacks on fact-based, developmentally appropriate, education undermine the ability for any of our kids to learn how to be kind, respectful, and accepting of diversity. Hurting one of our kids, hurts all of our kids.

Our Partners

SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change has served as a leading national voice for sex education since 1964, asserting that sexuality is a fundamental part of being human, one worthy of dignity and respect. Through advocacy, policy and coalition building, SIECUS advances sex education as a vehicle for social change—where all people receive sex education, are affirmed in their identities, and have power to make decisions about their own health, pleasure, and wholeness.

The National Women’s Law Center fights for gender justice—in the courts, in public policy, and in our society—working across the issues that are central to the lives of women and girls. We use the law in all its forms to change culture and drive solutions to the gender inequity that shapes our society and to break down the barriers that harm all of us—especially women of color, LGBTQ people, and low-income women and families. For 50 years, we have been on the leading edge of every major legal and policy victory for women.

We promote better outcomes for adolescents and young adults by advancing social change, cultivating innovation, and strengthening youth-supporting professionals and organizations.

Founded in 1979 at the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, Family Equality has spent more than 40 years ensuring that everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing equality for the LGBTQ+ community.
